Are your kids ready to create, learn and play? Then you’re in the right place! We’ve hand-picked some of New Zealand’s finest creative minds to educate and inspire. Each new Hī Hā programme has a kid-friendly theme linking our dance videos and songs to all educational material, e.g. Programme One: Manu (native birds); Programme Two: Taniwha, Taniwha! Content is developed in consultation with experienced primary school teachers to ensure it’s not only top-quality, but will work within the classroom.
Our website is simple to use, with resources which can be viewed onscreen, or downloaded and printed. With constant reinforcement of each programme’s theme and targeted Māori vocab woven seamlessly into our content at every level, teaching – and learning – is made easy. No prior knowledge of Te Reo is required, with a pronunciation playlist of Māori words and phrases learnt included in each programme.
Hī Hā’s creative writing content is penned by children’s author Sally Sutton. Sally says: “Kids who love reading and writing are smarter. They’re kinder. They’re open-minded, creative thinkers with better cultural understanding. If we combine fitness with literacy, we get kids with healthy minds and healthy bodies. Why have one when you can have both? That’s what Hī Hā is all about. I think you’ll be amazed by what our tamariki can achieve!”
