Kererū School is a tiny kura of just 24 tamariki in rural Hastings. The school has a history dating back to 1912, but that's not the only thing that makes them special! The whole school came together to perform Hī Hā's Birds of a Feather school production... and wow, did they ever look amazing!

Principal Kelsie Allen says: "It was INCREDIBLE. The script has been written in such a clever way with a lot of humour which was thoroughly enjoyed by our audience. Being Kererū School, it was almost like the production had been written for us. It fitted our context perfectly. The dance videos were brilliant and (with a lot of practice) the kids – aged 5 to 13 years old, pulled the dances off.

As a small rural school, we really struggled to find something we could connect to, and that we could do with only 24 students – a range of abilities and ages. We are so glad we came across Birds of a Feather.

We have had so many lovely comments and positive feedback about the show. Some even suggested we needed to take the show on the road!"

Thank you, KererūSchool- you are living proof that small can be mighty!
